If a car stops to ask you for directions stand well back ask them to speak up

Plan your journey or night out
Make sure that someone knows where you are going and what time you will be home
Arrange your journey to and from home
Avoid going alone friend can watch out for each other
Appoint a drinks watcher
Alcohol will affect your reaction
Be aware of what’s going on around you if you do not feel comfortable take action move away
Never accept a drink from anyone you do not completely trust
Do no share or exchange drinks
Don’t leave your drink unattended even when going to the toilet
Consider very carefully weather to leave a pub with someone you have just met
If you decide to leave make sure you let someone no where you are going
If you feel really drunk after just one or two drink tell a friend inform the club pub manager get help
Using Cash Machines
Be aware of who is around or near the cash
machine if they look suspicious use another machine
Check to see who is behind you if you feel they are too close don’t use the machine
Make sure no one can see you key in your number
Don’t let anyone help you at a cash machine con artists will switch your card
Once taking your money don’t count it at the machine do this later in a safe place
Avoid using cash machines at night take a friend with you
Taxis & mini cabs
Always get a Black cab or pre-book a car with a licensed minicab operator
Carry the phone number of a cab you have used before
Check that the minicab you order is the one you are getting in
Check that the driver has been given your name and destination by his operator
Always sit in the back and have your mobile phone on
Always report any problems you have with the driver
remember to take his number it s generally found on a white plate in the cab
Mini cabs are only allowed to pick you up if you have prearranged for them to do so
If you travel alone before entering the cab
text the cabs details to a friend if the driver becomes offended do not get in the cab
At Home
When at home remember to use window and door locks
When moving into a new house change you door locks

If someone comes to your door for help offer to make the call
